Dribble Move Progression
In our morning workouts we focused on dribble moves, specifically changing pace and attacking defenders. Here is the progression I used in the workout.
- Stationary Dribbling
- 2. Dribble Move on a cone
- 3. Dribble Move against a defender
The video shows a defender positioned between two cones with their feet on the three-point line. The defender cannot move until the offensive player makes their first move. The ball handler’s goal is to attack the defender through the space between the cones, forcing a live one-on-one situation. Once they get past the defender, they finish at the basket using a variety of finishing moves, such as a power layup, inside-hand finish, reverse, floater, or euro step.
This drill helps players work on attacking a defender off the dribble, reading defensive reactions, creating an advantage, and finishing effectively in game-like situations.
